Ingredients
- Lime wedge and salt for rim
- 12 ounces silver tequila
- 4½ ounces orange liqueur
- 12 ounce can frozen limeade concentrate
- 3 ounces agave
- 9 cups ice
- Lime wheel for garnish
Instructions
- In a blender, add ice, tequila, orange liqueur, limeade concentrate, and agave.
- Blend until smooth or desired consistency.
- Pour into chilled margarita glasses with a salt rim.
- Garnish with lime wheels.
Makes approximately six servings.
Variations and Substitutions
If this basic recipe doesn't do it for you or you need to make a few ingredient swaps, don't worry, you'll still get your frozen limeade margarita.
- Instead of agave, consider using honey or simple syrup.
- Add extra agave for a sweeter margarita.
- If silver tequila doesn't do it for you, consider añejo or reposado.
- For a smokey frozen limeade margarita, skip the tequila and use mezcal.
- Use more, or less, ice for a thicker or thinner consistency.
- If you want a stronger lime or sour taste, add freshly squeezed lime or lemon juice.
Garnishes
Sometimes the garnish that's called for isn't the garnish that's in your heart. These work just as well.
- Skip the salt rim for sugar or tajin instead. You can also not use a rim altogether.
- Instead of a lime wheel, use a wedge or slice.
- Consider an orange or lemon wheel, wedge, or slice for added color.
- A citrus peel, ribbon, or twist adds color without too much citrus flavor.
- Use a pineapple leaf for a tropical look.
About the Frozen Limeade Margarita
If you're making margaritas for a crowd and you don't feel like juicing all those limes, then frozen limeade concentrate just may be your savior. It still tastes like lime, and once you add tequila, who's going to know the difference? Dump the contents of the can into the blender fully frozen as your flavor base to make a nice pitcher of margaritas you can enjoy with your pals.
