Variations and Substitutions
Don't sweat if you're missing an ingredient or two or need to make a few adjustments.
- Use a splash of peach juice instead of the peach schnapps.
- Make a peach simple syrup, skip the peach schnapps, and use a half-ounce of the peach simple syrup.
- Add a drop or two of peach bitters to up the peach flavor without adding any unwanted sweetness.
- Skip the simple syrup and use peach cordial instead.
- Instead of white rum, opt for peach rum. You can use this with or without the peach schnapps.
Garnishes
Whether you like a traditional or modern garnish, there are plenty of options for your peach daiquiri.
- Use a lime wedge or slice instead of a lime wheel.
- A dehydrated citrus wheel adds a unique look, using either a lemon or lime.
- Experiment with a lime ribbon, wheel, or twist.
- Substitute lemon for the lime to add a pop of color or use in addition to the lime.
About the Peach Daiquiri
The daiquiri has picked up a bit of a sugary rap over the years, as bars have started to serve this classic cocktail either frozen or with sugary syrups, often resulting in a cloying cocktail. However, the daiquiri didn't start this way. The classic daiquiri recipe is nothing more than rum, lime juice, and simple syrup.
While some recipes do take liberties and dress the daiquiri up, there are still plenty of ways to enjoy a frozen daiquiri without taking it too far or turning the drink into a sugar bomb. Simple ways to add flavors include a splash of freshly squeezed juice or using tart juices, or adding schnapps and liqueurs to add additional flavor. Even flavored simple syrup can be used in the recipe, but no more than a half-ounce.
Not too Sweet, Not too Sour, Just Right
The peach daiquiri has just enough extra sweetness to add a little something to the classic daiquiri without changing the cocktail entirely. Don't be afraid to add that splash of schnapps the next time you shake up a daiquiri.
