Easy-to-Make Pizza Roll Recipe That'll Have You Rollin' in Dough

If you grew up eating Bagel Bites, you'll love our homemade pizza roll recipe. Great finger foods are hard to resist, especially ones that are cheesy, saucy, and oh-so-yummy. Whether you're getting game-time ready or looking for an appetizer to snack on while watching a movie, consider our homemade pizza rolls your go-to appetizer. Get some extra napkins ready because it's about to get messy. 

How to Make Pizza Rolls

Change up the fillings in this recipe with your favorite pizza toppings. This serves 8.

  • 2 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups flour, divided
  • 1 cup pizza sauce or marinara sauce 
  • 1 teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt
  • ¾ cup sliced pepperoni or turkey pepperoni (or filling of your choice)
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions 

  1. Combine yeast, water and sugar in a small bowl and stir until the yeast dissolves; let the mixture sit for about 5 minutes before adding olive oil to the mixture. 
  2. In another bowl, mix salt and 1 cup of flour. Add the yeast mixture to your dry mixture. Stir the dough until the batter thickens.
  3. Add additional flour until the dough becomes stiff.
  4. Place the ball of dough onto a floured flat surface and knead it. Add small amounts of flour while kneading the dough until you've reached about 2 cups of total flour used.
  5. Cover the dough and let it rise until it's doubled in volume (about an hour).
  6. When ready to bake, preheat oven to 425 °F.
  7. Stretch dough into a large rectangular shape and top it with marinara sauce, basil, garlic salt, pepperoni, and cheeses.
  8. Roll the dough and filling into a log shape and cut it into 1-inch slices.
  9. Place pizza rolls onto lightly greased baking sheets.
  10. Bake the rolls for about 10 minutes or until browned.

Prepare a platter with different dipping sauces such as ranch, honey mustard, BBQ, and pesto.
