St. Clement Vineyards produces Napa Valley red wines of distinction. With single-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon wines and a flagship Bordeaux-style blend called Oroppas, you'll find critically acclaimed wines with balance and structure from St. Clement Vineyards.
St. Clement Oroppas Wine
Oroppas is a Cabernet Sauvignon based blend that comes from different vineyards around the Napa Valley. The grapes are harvested from separate vineyards and made into individual wines. The winery ages each of these wines separately for around 18 months before mixing them together with a small amount of Cabernet Franc to make the final blend. The wine's blending and aging process allows the winemakers to create consistent wines. The release price for Oroppas is around $70 per bottle.
Critics' Ratings of Oroppas
The results are often very good, as several vintages of Oroppas have been well-received by wine critics. Vintages receiving 90 points or higher from Wine Spectator (WS) include 2004 (93 points), 2005 (90 points), 2006 (92 points WS and 94 points Wine Enthusiast), 2009 (91 points), and 2010 (90 points). Since its first production in 1991, Oroppas wine has received an aggregate score across critics and vintages of 89 points.
Oroppas Food Pairings
Oroppas wine pairs well with hearty fare such as game meats, steak, stews, and bordelaise style sauces. Try this wine with a classic Beef Wellington or a delicious bœuf à la Bourguignonne.
St. Clement Cabernet Sauvignon Wines
St. Clement also produces an array of single vineyard and blended Cabernet Sauvignon wines. These wines pair well with foods such as filet mignon, leg of lamb, or beef stew.
Paras Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon
The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes used to produce this single-vineyard varietal are grown on top of Mount Veeder in Napa. The wine's release price is around $110 per bottle, and the aggregate rating across vintages and critics is 90 points. This a balanced, refined Cabernet Sauvignon with notes of plum, blackberries, and leather.
Armstrong Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon
St. Clement's Armstrong Ranch Cabernet Sauvignon releases at around $110 per bottle. It's a bold, structured red with notes of cedar, cremé de cassis, and dark chocolate and a deep purple color. This is a wine meant to age, and some vintages can lay down for 20 years or more due to the tannic structures of the wine. Critics have awarded this wine an aggregate score of 90 points across vintages and critics.
Johanna Cabernet Sauvignon
The Johanna Cabernet Sauvignon from St. Clement is one of their lower priced wines, releasing at around $80 per bottle. It's built for consistency, blending wines from a few different vineyards in Oakville, St. Helena, and Diamond Mountain. It's a full-bodied red with notes of black cherry and blackberry and intriguing hints of oak. While no professional critic reviews are available, wine drinkers at Vivino rate this wine as 4.3 out of 5 stars, citing its earthy and berry notes as highlights of the wine.
