6 Ways to Meditate With Crystals: Tools for Transformation

Learn how to meditate with crystals and take your meditation to the next level.

Crystals are pretty to look at and have great vibes. I love meditating with crystals because they help deepen my meditation and strengthen my intentions. Learn how to meditate with crystals using any of these crystal meditations.

Crystal Gazing

In this meditation, you can choose any crystal you like. Pick one that's visually interesting, as you'll use it as a focal point for your meditation. This meditation helps you relax, clear your mind, calm stress, and sit in a meditative state. 

  1. Sit comfortably in a chair or on the floor. Place a crystal within your line of sight.
  2. Begin by breathing deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth. 
  3. Soften your focus and gaze at the crystal. Keep your attention on the crystal.
  4. If your mind starts to wander, return your attention to the crystal. Do this for as long as you like.

Crystal Grounding Meditation

You can also use crystals during meditation to ground yourself. For this meditation, you'll need a black or red crystal. My favorite is shungite, but you can use hematite, garnet, obsidian, or any other black or red crystal that catches your eye.

  1. Sit comfortably on the ground. Hold your crystal in your non-dominant hand. 
  2. Begin by taking some deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  3. When you feel relaxed, focus on the crystal in your hand. 
  4. Feel the energy of the crystal travel through your hand, up your arm, and throughout your body.
  5. Now, feel that energy extending from your body and down into the center of the Earth.
  6. Sit in this space for as long as you like.

Rose Quartz Crystal Meditation for Compassion

For this meditation, you'll use a rose quartz crystal. Focus on sending your compassion to yourself and out into the world during this meditation.

  1. Sit or lie comfortably.
  2. Place the rose quartz crystal over your heart and hold it in place with both of your hands.
  3. Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  4. When you feel comfortable and relaxed, gently bring your focus to where your crystal is in contact with your chest.
  5. Feel the warmth from your hands flowing into the crystal and that warmth then extending into your heart.
  6. Visualize something or someone you love very much. Feel that love radiating and mingling with the crystal energy in your heart.
  7. With each beat of your heart, visualize that energy flowing throughout your blood vessels, filling your entire body. 
  8. Now, visualize that energy flowing through your body as a pink energetic field, flowing out through your pores and extending into the room around you, then into your home, then throughout your town, and then all around the world.
  9. When you're ready, return your attention to your breathing.
  10. Open your eyes when you're ready.

Citrine Crystal Prosperity Meditation

Citrine is a crystal that is commonly associated with prosperity and wealth. You can use it in this meditation to help increase abundance in your life.

You'll want to hold the citrine crystal in your receiving hand, which is your non-dominant hand (left hand if you're right-handed, or right hand if you're left-handed). 

  1. Sit or lie comfortably, holding your crystal in your receiving hand.
  2. Begin by taking some deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth. 
  3. When you feel relaxed, in your mind's eye, begin repeating the mantra, "I am a magnet for abundance."
  4. As you repeat the mantra, bring your focus to the crystal in your receiving hand.
  5. Visualize abundance flowing from the universe to the crystal you're holding.
  6. Feel the energy of the crystal fill your body as you hold it.
  7. Remain in this energy for as long as you like. 

Crystal Meditation to Balance Chakras

Your chakras are energy centers that flow up the center of your body. Using crystals can help keep chakras aligned and balanced for more vitality and health of body, mind, and spirit.

For this lying-down meditation, you'll need one crystal for each chakra.

  1. Place a hematite crystal on your root chakra, which is at the base of your spine.
  2. Place a carnelian crystal on your sacral charka, which is in the center of your body just below your belly button.
  3. Place a citrine crystal on your solar plexus chakra, which is in the middle of your body just below your xiphoid process (the tip of your sternum).
  4. Place a rose quartz crystal on your heart chakra, which is in the center of your chest.
  5. Place a chalcedony crystal on your throat chakra, which is just on top of your thyroid gland.
  6. Place an amethyst crystal on your third eye chakra, which is in the center of your forehead.
  7. Place a clear quartz crystal touching your crown chakra, which is the center of the top of your head.
  8. Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  9. When you feel relaxed, visualize a beam of white light flowing down from above your head and entering your crown chakra through the crystal.
  10. Then, visualize that energy flowing downward through your center line, down through each crystal and each chakra.
  11. When the light has reached the root chakra, visualize it flowing back up through the chakras and crystals.
  12. Lie in the energy for as long as you wish.

Amethyst Meditation for Better Sleep

Amethyst is a great crystal to help you sleep better. I actually sleep with a piece of amethyst on my bedside table to support a restful night. You can also meditate with the amethyst before bed to increase relaxation and support sleep.

  1. Lie comfortably in your bed with your amethyst crystal in the center of your forehead.
  2. Close your eyes and begin to breathe deeply, in through your nose and out through your mouth.
  3. Once you're feeling relaxed, begin repeating the mantra, "I sleep deeply, soundly, and comfortably, and I wake feeling refreshed and rejuvenated."
  4. Continue repeating the mantra. If your mind wanders, gently return it to the mantra. Do this for as long as you like.

Tips for How to Use Crystals in Meditation

It's super easy to meditate with crystals, and they're great for amplifying intention and attracting energy you'd like to bring into your life. These are some of my favorite tips for meditating with crystals.

  • Crystal size doesn't really matter. Choose crystals you can use comfortably for your meditation.
  • Cleanse your crystals with incense smoke before you use them to keep them at their high vibration.
  • If you have a specific intention you'd like to include in your meditation, use a crystal dictionary or reference book to look up a crystal that will support that intention.
  • You can use a clear quartz crystal as a universal crystal if you don't want to buy a bunch of different crystals.
  • You know that "feel good" spot you have where you feel super blissed out when you're in a really good meditation? If you'd like to be able to bring that feeling back throughout the day, you can program it into a piece of clear quartz. Hold a clear quartz in your giving hand (your dominant hand), and when you're in that perfect floaty spot, visualize it all flowing from your body and into that crystal. Keep the crystal with you and hold it in your receiving hand any time you'd like to have that feeling again.

These are just a few simple ways you can meditate with crystals, but your options are endless. From creating a crystal circle and sitting in the middle of it as you meditate to focusing on virtually any intention using specific crystals, adding gemstones to your meditations can make them more powerful and meaningful.
