Available online and as a free app, WordFinder from YourDictionary allows you to type in your letters and generate a list of possible combinations. Find words with specific letters like words with the letter Q or consonant words. With an impressive 4.8 stars on iTunes, use the vast collection of words for word games to really up your score. However, some features will require a subscription of $17.99 yearly to use.
WinEveryGame
The free word builder at WinEveryGame lets you insert up to 12 letters, including a question mark or space for a blank tile. You may also enter prefixes or suffixes. Results are displayed in columns containing the words and number of letters in each word. The longest words are displayed first. While this app is helpful is when you are searching for a word out of tiles, it lacks offering up suggestions if you are looking for a specific word or want to find different word combinations.
Lexicon Word Finder
Lexicon Word Finder offers a different perspective on word finding during a Scrabble game. This free online word finder has an actual representation of a Scrabble board and allows you to record your game as you go along. You can then punch word combinations into the board to see if they will work and where they will fit. You can choose traditional Scrabble or one of many of the online and mobile versions of the game, making this tool extremely versatile. However, this online tool isn't for those looking for a quick word fix because you need to run this while you play the game.
A2Z WordFinder
A2Z WordFinder has multiple online word generators, including one for searching partial words. Also handy is a tool that allows you to input your tiles along with the word on the board you would like to play off of. The Word Verification tool will help you determine if a word you want to play is actually a correct English word. While the free site is handy during play, it is limited in word lists and designed for Scrabble on Facebook.
The Word Finder
Both online and available through iTunes, The Word Finder is a free simple interface that lets you enter the tiles on your rack and add extra strings if you feel some of the letters you have will create a longer word with tiles currently on the Scrabble board. You can also access word lists, and it works with multiple games like Scrabble With Friends. The Word Finder received 4.6 stars on iTunes, but several reoccurring issues with the app have been pointed out.
Scrabble Cheat-O-Matic
The Scrabble Cheat-O-Matic is another worthwhile free word generator. With the Cheat-O-Matic, you can choose between three different dictionaries of words. The search engine can only handle one blank tile at a time, so if you have both available blanks in your hand, you will have to leave one out of the mix. It is limited to finding words with tiles and can't help you to anticipate or look up new words. The navigation is also confusing for the other features.
Scrabble Cheat
The unofficial site for Scrabble Cheat tools, this no-cost online word maker lets you input the letters you currently have into their search engine, and you will then be given a list of words you can potentially use. Select how you would like a particular letter to be positioned and sort the words by point value for a quick victory. In addition to tips and word lists, it also has the option to call for help support. The lack of an app here does make this tool a little less versatile than others available. Additionally, ads can make this one a bit less desirable.
Anagrammer
The online word finder at Anagrammer isn't fancy and the page is riddled with ads. It does offer some advantages, however, including the ability to type in both rack tiles and board tiles with quick results. The handiest feature is that your results can be sorted in various ways, including by score or length of word. You can also check for words containing a specific string of letters.
Scrabble Cheat - Word Helper
With a word list generator for up to 16 tiles and a dictionary, the free Scrabble Cheat - Word Helper offers diverse word lists that are organized from A to Z. You can even find two letter word combinations and anagram solvers. This app had a 4.2 on the Google Play Store, but users did note that the ads were distracting and found the fact there is no clear button irritating. While free to use, there are in-app purchases that can be made.
Snap Assist
This no-cost lightning fast word assist app lets you screenshot your gameboard to make powerful strategies and word plays. It will generate a local word list and allow you to see word opportunities that you might have missed. It also come in American and British English. Given a 4.4 by Google, some users noted that the app didn't calibrate the game board correctly from the screenshot.
Keep the Game Fair
Using a word generator can be tempting, especially if you're trying to catch up to an opponent in an online game. To keep things fair across the board, decide with your opponent before the game starts whether these tools will be allowed, and then stick to that decision. While you might get some temporary satisfaction from a high-scoring play, in the end, you'll want to win based on your own merit.
